Job Responsibilities
Operational Excellence: Model operational standards and execute critical behaviors to run efficient shifts that create lifelong memories for guests and team members.
Sales & Profitability: Drive sales and profits by executing operational standards that impact business performance.
Shift Planning & Scheduling: Oversee shift planning, scheduling, training execution, and daily routines.
Team Development: Foster team member growth through development programs, individual development plans (IDPs), and the Ignite internal development program.
Guest Experience: Deliver exceptional guest experiences, ensuring each visit is memorable and builds connections.
Team Engagement: Enhance team morale through frequent recognition, feedback, and open communication.
Financial Management: Meet and exceed financial goals by managing budgets effectively.
Compliance: Implement company policies and strategies to ensure health, quality, and food safety compliance.
Recruitment & Staffing: Manage recruitment efforts, ensuring the team is aligned with Portillo's culture and delivering exceptional service.
Business Decisions: Make critical decisions around inventory, budget, and labor to keep operations running smoothly.
Job Qualifications
Experience: Minimum of 3 years of restaurant management experience, or at least 1 year as an Assistant General Manager or General Manager in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
Restaurant Operations Knowledge: Strong understanding of all aspects of restaurant operations, including recruiting, food planning, purchasing, sanitation, health standards, and security.
Leadership: Proven ability to inspire and motivate team members while achieving excellence in service and performance.
Financial Acumen: Knowledgeable in managing P&L responsibilities and understanding financial aspects of the restaurant.
Communication: Excellent communication skills. Must be fluent in English to effectively communicate with team members, managers, and guests.
Flexibility: Ability to work 50+ hour weeks, including rotating shifts (nights, weekends, and holidays).
Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Certifications: Current sanitation and B.A.S.S.E.T. alcohol service training are a plus.
