Position Summary:
The Production Manager is responsible for overseeing production operations during the second shift, ensuring quality standards and safety requirements are met. This role collaborates with plant management to ensure compliance with HACCP procedures, certifications, and other safety and sanitation requirements for food production. The Production Manager ensures that production, storage, inventory management, and distribution processes adhere strictly to company policies. This position also plays a vital role in supporting the company’s purpose, values, and overall business strategy. The role requires the ability to work in both warm and cold environments.
Work Schedule:
Second shift, requiring flexibility to work 10-hour shifts starting at noon on weekdays.
Core Responsibilities:
Enable Our Purpose:
Lead a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, team member engagement, and sustainable performance.
Manage team member training and development, including key operational skills (e.g., PIT operation, Confined Space safety).
Support growth and development by maintaining staffing levels and managing workloads to ensure team member satisfaction and wellbeing.
Greatness:
Conduct team member safety audits and inspections of work areas and operations.
Ensure compliance with all relevant OSHA standards and company policies.
Support financial goals by achieving cost targets and ensuring efficient resource utilization.
Maintain production levels and manage inventory to meet supply requirements while optimizing inventory costs.
Build and maintain collaborative relationships with other leadership teams, including QA and Maintenance.
Provide regular reports on daily consumption and output levels.
Energy:
Implement operating systems that promote safety, quality, sanitation, preventive maintenance, and continuous improvement.
Meet daily and weekly production forecasts to ensure supply meets future demand.
Ensure proper operation and maintenance of commissary automation and equipment.
Fun:
Facilitate training and other employee initiatives as required.
Foster a positive and engaging work environment through recognition, communication, and support.
Partner with the People Team to plan team-building events.
Identify and train talent for the commissaries, helping to build capacity and manage performance.
Perform other ad hoc duties as needed.
Organizational Relationships:
Reports to the Plant Manager.
Manages 40+ non-exempt team members across various plant areas.
Interacts with other Production Managers, People (HR), Operations, and Supply Chain teams.
Qualifications:
Experience:
3+ years in a leadership role in food manufacturing.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) required.
Experience in USDA/FDA manufacturing plants is preferred, with familiarity of USDA/FDA requirements.
Proficient in ERP and MRP systems and inventory control.
Experience in implementing cost controls and managing budgets.
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.
Some knowledge of finance, cost analysis, and forecasting.
Strong project management skills with a track record of leading change.
Education/Certifications:
Bachelor's degree in business or related field preferred.
HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points) certification preferred.
SQF (Safe Quality Foods) or other GFSI (Global Food Safety Initiative) certifications preferred.
